As much as I enjoy my debates with self on religion, I really don't think it is an appropriate topic of conversation for anyone but close friends. I think religion is a very personal thing, and to talk about it in front of others is breach of privacy on both people's parts. In all honesty, what you believe does not matter at all to me. I don't care what you think, I don't want to hear it. And I absolutely hate it when people think that's an acceptable topic to discuss in front of a large group of people, or with someone who is relatively unfamiliar.
I wish religion could be done away with all together, but alas, this will never happen.
But seriously, I think those three things you're not supposed to discuss at the dinner table (politics, religion, and money) are three things that should never be discussed. Period. Believe what you believe, but don't try to force or even inform me of what you believe. You wouldn't like it if I did it to you.
